Tony Dougherty
Tony Dougherty is one of the pioneers of the tea tree industry on the Clarence River. He began growing tea trees in 1989 and has a 40 hectare plantation.
Tony harvests and distills the leaf for the growers on the Clarence River. His shed on the outskirts of Grafton is the meeting place for all the farmers.
Along with Peter Bryant he began ATTOX to form a selling entity for all the smaller growers and is still a director of ATTOX.
After 34 years in the industry the fragrant smell in the stillness of the early morning that exudes from the tea tree plant still excites him.
